Vascular Ultrasound Studies

Vascular Ultrasound:

This is also a form of ultrasound which uses high pitched sound waves that are again sent through a device called a transducer.  The devices picks up echoes of the sound waves as they bounce of the blood vessel (arteries or veins).  The echoes that are reflected back are then turned into images that can be evaluated on a video screen.

Information: Examples of vascular ultrasound include imaging of the carotid arteries, arm arteries and veins, leg arteries and veins.  This is also an efficient method of screening for aneurysm of the large artery in the abdomen.

  • Carotid Duplex Ultrasound Examination
  • Arterial Duplex Examination of the Legs, Arms, Kidney and Mesenteric circulation
  • Venous Duplex Examination of the Legs and Arms
  • ABI (ankle-brachial index with and without exercise)
