Pacemakers and Defibrillator
These are special electrical devices that are placed underneath the skin of the chest to assist the patient’s heart to speed up in the case of slow heart rate (bradycardia) or when there is potential for an unstable arrhythmia (tachycardia). A pacemaker will only help speed the heart while a defibrillator can not only assist in speeding the heart but also shock the heart in case of a faulty and fast heart rhythm.
The device is attached via either 1,2, or 3 wires to the inside lining of the heart.
